Press Release
Helping people enjoy the sunshine while minimizing the possible damage that UVA/UVB rays can cause: this is the main objective of NIVEA SUN, the number-one sunscreen brand in the world. In keeping with its purpose, the brand works to create opportunities for raising awareness among the population about the importance of using protection against the sun all year long.
To call attention to the subject, NIVEA SUN has taken advantage of one of the hottest summers in the last several years to conduct an unprecedented action in the country: the launch of the NIVEA Sun Binoculars on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
The binoculars, developed in partnership with the FCB Brasil, rely on special technology, a superzoom lens and filters that detect UV rays, which can reveal if beachgoers are protected by sunscreen or not. Combining photography, optics, and VR technology, it was created to differentiate between protected skin and unprotected skin.
To demonstrate the binoculars and alert beachgoers to the importance of using sunscreen, several observatories were constructed on the beaches of Ipanema (Rio de Janeiro) and Maresias (São Paulo), where NIVEA SUN Guardians carrying the binoculars helped regulars protect themselves.
From the moment the device showed them that parts of their bodies were unprotected, the Guardians quickly approached the beachgoers and offered them NIVEA SUN sunscreen, all right on the sandy beach.
The NIVEA SUN Protector Binoculars further expands the brand’s work to raise awareness about the importance of preventing skin damage such as sunburns, premature aging, moles and freckles, and even skin cancer, all caused by harmful sun rays.
